Financial Services Register.
This Interim Permission Consumer Credit Register (the 'IP Register') will no longer be available from July 2020. Firms that are carrying out consumer credit activities will now appear in the Financial Services Register (the 'FS Register')
The IP Register was created after the FCA took over regulation of consumer credit from the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) on 1 April 2014. Its purpose then was to provide details of firms that had an OFT licence and had registered for interim permission with the FCA.
Over the past 6 years, these firms have been invited to apply for FCA authorisation to continue carrying on regulated consumer credit activities. Their details are now, therefore, in the FS Register. From the point that this IP Register is no longer available, any firms that continue to hold interim permission will also appear on the FS Register.
We hope this explains why we are closing access to the IP Register. In short, it is no longer needed. But if you have any questions, please feel free to contact the FCA.
